A Little About...
Nedra Mae was born and raised in Alaska. Though she moved from Alaska and eventually landed in Texas, Alaska still is and always will be, home. She exemplifies the idea, “you can take the girl out of Alaska, but you can’t take Alaska out of the girl.”
She began reading at a young age, though the frustration of dyslexia set in and made it difficult. The dyslexia and some tough life experiences didn’t stop her from becoming an avid storyteller and poet. She eventually got the help she needed to push through the dyslexia and to become an avid reader. Her love of books fueled her passion for writing.
She received awards for her poetry and forensic competitions, while several of her poems were chosen for publication in “Readers Digest” and small religious books.
As she began to have children, her writing was put on a back burner. During that time, she raised six children and became a student of life, and eventually college. Her children were her captive audience of her stories and poems. She used her varied and diverse experiences from life to continue to fuel her stories and poetry.
As her youngest reached into adulthood, she began to let the stories come out. Grasping the newfound time, she began dedicating herself to following her long dormant dream. Her life experiences further defined her dream, not only to write, but to work to inspire and encourage others.
This brought about her silver romances and quest to produce a screenplay for the silver screen. Her poetry is never far from her, often inspired by the stories she is telling.
